Arsenal are weighing up a surprise £30m bid to sign David Luiz from Chelsea in the January transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Express is reporting that the Gunners are pondering whether to try and make a move to land the 30-year-old Brazilian, who has not been featuring for Chelsea in recent weeks.
The same report claims that Luiz has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge and that Arsene Wenger could turn to the defender in the new year.
The story also suggests that Manchester United remain interested in trying to sign Luiz in the January transfer window.
It is claimed in the same article that what appeals to Wenger is the fact that Luiz can play as both a central defender and defensive midfielder.
Luiz appears to have fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea, with young Danish defender Andreas Christensen having taken his place in the Blues side in recent weeks.
It remains to be seen whether there is any truth to the reports that the Gunners could be set to make a move for Luiz in the new year/
Meanwhile, Arsenal are preparing to welcome Liverpool FC to The Emirates in the Premier League on Friday night.
