Chelsea FC are ready to make a move to sign Jamaal Lascelles from Newcastle United this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the west London side view the 24-year- old central defender as the “next John Terry” and are keen to make a move to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer
The same report says that Chelsea FC representatives have been impressed by the defender’s leadership and no-nonsense defending as they plot a summer move for Lascelles.
The story claims that Chelsea FC will make a move to try and sign Lascelles, who is rated at around £30m, at the end of the season, leaving Newcastle United facing a fight to keep hold of their captain.
The article also says that Lascelles would seriously consider a move to Stamford Bridge this summer should the opportunity arise.
The Englishman has been in solid form for the Magpies this season, scoring three goals in 26 Premier League games as Rafael Benitez looks to try and keep the club in the top flight.
Chelsea FC are likely to be on the lookout for significant reinforcements this summer after a season which looks set to fall short of expectations following their title triumph last term.
