The 25-year-old played under the Portugese manager during his time in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu between 2010 and 2013.
Mourinho handed the striker his Real Madrid debut in 2010 and the Spaniard went on to make a total of 18 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos.
Morata scored the winner against his former manager last weekend as Chelsea defeated Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
And although the former Juventus man admitted that Mourinho is a rival for him now, he insisted that he will forever have a special affection towards the Manchester United boss.
"We gave each other a hug, we love each other”, Morata said on Spanish radio station Cope’s programme El Partidazo, when asked about Mourinho.
“He’s the coach who gave me my debut and I'll always have a special affection for him. “[Although] now we're rivals."
Morata spoke at length on the radio show, and he was asked whether he would celebrate a Chelsea goal at the Bernabeu.
“I could never, only for my teammates, that’s why I did not do it with Juve, because I’m grateful and I’m a Madridista," he added.
"It bothers me that they tell me I have not stayed to fight. I would not celebrate a goal in my life at the Bernabeu.
"I am grateful, I am a footballer thanks to Madrid, I am at Chelsea and the national team thanks to Madrid."
The £55.8m Chelsea signing has bagged eight goals in 15 games for his new team so far this season.
