The 5 forwards Chelsea are most likely to sign this winter

Forwards

Chelsea fans are wondering just what their club are playing at right now, with the Blues looking to bring in a striker this winter, and while names like Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Alexis Sanchez are flying around for their Premier League rivals, they’re looking at the likes of Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch.

It’s a far cry from the days when Roman Abramovich wanted to bring in the best players in the world – now it seems he can’t even bring in the best players in the league for his manager – and Chelsea fans were not happy to say the least when news broke they’d made enquiries about Peter Crouch, who at times, can’t even get into the struggling Stoke side.

Now, it seems there are five candidates for the Blues – and the favourite is Edin Dzeko, who knows the Premier League well, and was no stranger to goals during his time at Manchester City.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Things haven’t gone according to plan for Conte when it comes to transfers this season, but the latest odds suggest the club will be bringing in at least one big man up-front this month.”

Edin Dzeko – 2/1
Andy Carroll – 7/2
Peter Crouch – 4/1
Christian Benteke – 8/1
Olivier Giroud – 10/1

Crouch

The one question Blues fans were asking when the club were linked with Crouch was why are they not after the top names who are in the transfer rumour columns this winter?

It’s something Antonio Conte has moaned about this season, and he made it clear that Alexis is someone he is a huge fan of and while Chelsea were rumoured to have made a very late approach to sign him, it seemed too little too late, and more of a token than anything else.

Now, with Alvaro Morata struggling and currently suspended, Chelsea have only Michy Batshuayi to rely on, and while some sections of the fanbase want him to be given more time, manager Antonio Conte simply does not look like he trusts him, hence a move for another forward – though the calibre of said forward is up for debate if the names rumoured really are the ones on Chelsea’s list.
