Fixtures
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has already begun bemoaning his side’s future list, after having the entirety of last season without European football to worry about.
Now, after finding himself in the same boat as other managers like Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho – who are no strangers to complaining about the Premier League not taking their other commitments into account when other leagues do for their respective sides in European competitions, Conte has done the same and blasted the Premier League for scheduling the Liverpool game so close to the Champions League one.
The Evening Standard report he said: “Now we have another problem.
“We play Qarabag on Wednesday, we get back to London at 5am or 6am on Thursday and then have a game against Liverpool on Saturday.
“Is this normal? I don’t think so.
“If people want more balance in this league they must pay great attention when preparing the fixtures.”
Close the gap
One thing Conte also has to worry about is the gap between themselves and Manchester City.
The side are currently running away with the Premier League title and it’s certainly something Conte is not happy about, telling his players they need to give more – and go on a winning run that at least gives them a chance to close the gap on City and put some distance between themselves and the other sides who are fighting for the top four and of course a Champions League spot next season, something that is essential for the Blues.
