Antonio Conte sends open message to Chelsea fans about Ethan Ampadu

Antonio Conte has insisted that he can “count” on Ethan Ampadu to perform in the first team for Chelsea following his impressive recent displays.

The teenage defender has been earning rave reviews from Blues boss Conte in recent weeks after proving himself as ready to perform in the first team following his move from Exeter City in the summer transfer window.

Ampadu earned plenty of praise for his strong performance in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the League Cup quarter-finals last week.

And the Chelsea manager has insisted that he is ready to call upon the 17-year-old at any time this season.

Speaking at a news conference before Chelsea’s Boxing Day clash with Brighton, Conte said: “He trains with us every day, and is part of our squad.

“I have to try to make the best decision but, for sure, I can count on him.”

Chelsea are aiming to try and climb the Premier League table as they look to try and catch Manchester City in the race for the top-flight title.

The west London side are currently in third place after a mixed start to their second campaign under Conte.

The Blues will take on Spanish giants Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League in the new year.

Meanwhile, the Blues are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming days and weeks as the January transfer window draws nearer.
