Michael Duberry is convinced that Chelsea have what it takes to beat Barcelona over two legs in the Champions League last 16 next year.
The west London side have been pitted against the La Liga leaders after Antonio Conte’s men were made to pay for finishing second in their group.
br /> Chelsea will take on the Spanish giants in February as they look to try and reach the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
The Blues famously knocked Barcelona out on their way towards winning the Champions League trophy back in 2012.
And former Chelsea star Duberry appears to be convinced that the Blues can beat the La Liga side and reach the last eight.
Speaking to the Daily Express , Duberry said: “It’s a two-legged game and on any given night, both can beat each other.
“It’s like two heavyweight boxers who can both produce a heavyweight knockout blow. Just a case of who will go there. “It’s going to be a great European tie.
Obviously Chelsea will want an easier route, but you have to go through these teams. “Chelsea have a great chance of winning the tie, as do Barcelona.”
Chelsea, meanwhile, are now preparing for their Premier League clash with Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The west London side will then turn their attentions towards their crunch clash with Arsenal at The Emirates on 3 January.
Meanwhile, defending champions Chelsea are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as the January transfer window presents Conte with the chance to bolster his squad ahead of the second half of the season.
